Literature Text
you keep me around
like an old tire in
your trunk
pulling me out
now and again to
pump me up
with promises
before throwing
me back
into the dark
like an old tire in
your trunk
pulling me out
now and again to
pump me up
with promises
before throwing
me back
into the dark

We
We
We closed
an open door
and burned bridges
we opened
our hearts
and betrayed ourselves
we lifted
our eyes to see the way
blind to those around us.
We dropped
in on friends
and devoured a little trust
we picked up
where we left off
embedding our lives together
we lost
our inhibitions
and lived a while.

Inches of Truth
11/29/08
I'm afraid to hear your voice,
To feel it vibrate my inner sides,
Singing my mind,
And stealing my heart.
It's not just the melody you have,
The innocence to turn a thousand heads.
It's not just the loveliness all men crave,
Or the emotions behind all your words.
I'm only beginning to forget your promising words,
And the love so convincing behind your beautiful eyes.
So sometimes I do let myself wonder,
Whether we are making the biggest mistakes of our lives.

departure
july's gone, my dear
those wasted days disappear
like your promises

I really like the title on this one. I imagine it voiced in a wry, resentful kind of way. Perhaps not how you intended, but I get the sense of being sick to death of the situation. Good play on words
