like a bird
newly uncaged
and let me

the grace of its floating pressing me onwards.
As the years go by I remember all the things I miss,
like my mother's homemade soup and bread,

Reminded me of Icarus a little too; a sense of hopes that ran too high. The imagery is direct and clean and the piece builds effectively to the premise of the end.
