i tried to write
you a love poem
today

but the words
wouldn’t
listen

they slid
from the paper
like bricks

falling
naturally into
walls that

keep me
from
you

As I feel the past crumble and I'm forced to let go this poem hits me and I am left shaking and in aw that even as I lose my words you use yours to paint this story.

I love the mental image of the words slipping of the paper as bricks and forming blockages. I like the sad, wistful tone of this piece, the sense of the whole universe conspiring against the narrator and the object of their affection, to the point where even words and self-expression rebel.
